EFL Championship Top Scorers of All Time: Legends in their own way

Soccerwayuk.com named the top 10 EFL Championship top scorers all time, along with most goalscorers in EFL Championship 2025/2026 so far.

The Championship was officially established in 2004, replacing the Football League First Division, which had served as England’s second-tier competition since the Premier League split away in 1992.

Thanks to its close connection with the financially powerful Premier League, the Championship has become the wealthiest second division in world football, with a level of competition that surpasses other leagues at the same tier. That said, clubs also face the constant threat of dropping down to League One, England’s third tier, highlighting the Championship’s role within the country’s extensive and highly competitive football pyramid.

In this article, Soccerwayuk.com lists the top 10 EFL Championship Top Scorers All Time,  from the 2004/2005 to 2025/2026 season, along with Top 10 goalscorers of EFL Championship 2025/2026 so far

Sitting at the summit is Billy Sharp, a Sheffield United legend who made 377 appearances for the club. The English striker has scored 130 goals in the EFL Championship but never claimed the division’s Golden Boot in a single season. Throughout his career, Sharp has represented several well-known English sides, including Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. Now aged 39, he continues to play at League One level with Doncaster Rovers. Renowned for his intelligent movement, sharp positioning and clinical one-touch finishing, Sharp remains one of the most instinctive goal scorers in Championship history.

Renowned for his clinical finishing, Rhodes boasts one of the best goals-per-minute ratios on the list, averaging a goal every 180 minutes.

Among the names on the list, Troy Deeney is particularly familiar to Premier League fans, having been closely associated with Watford’s most successful era. The powerful striker scored 95 goals in the EFL Championship, securing his place in the all-time top 10. Deeney spent more than a decade at Watford, playing for the club from the 2010/2011 to the 2021/2022 season, including six campaigns in the Premier League, the highest level of English football.
